About Us

Jesus is at the centre of life at St. Margaret's, and our teaching is based on The Bible. We try to be open to the Holy Spirit.  We are an evangelical church within the Church of England and our members range in age from a few months to the mid 90's. St. Margaret's has an active junior church and several house groups meet 'mid-week'.  We gather regularly for prayer.

Three times a month, in term time, we hold our 10.30am Service in Horsmonden School.  The school is in the heart of the village. (see the Calendar for details of Services).

If you are in the vicinity, please do visit us, whether it is just to look around a well preserved Church building with plenty of history, to admire the splendid views from the Churchyard or to join with the Christian family for a Service of Worship.

We are often asked why is the Church so far from the Village? There are several theories about this. The most common are:

  1. People moved because of ‘the plague’ to an area they considered to be safe some distance from the Church.
  2. People moved because there were growing opportunities for employment in the area that has now become the Village.

There is probaby some truth in both these theories, although the latter is the more credible.
